Groomingdales first opened its doors on November 15th 2002, now 6 years later and over 5000 dogs through the door we are still going strong. Our first base on Townfield Close was slightly too big, so in September 2005 we packed up and moved to our new location in Greasby, a much smaller salon but still with a nice friendly atmosphere.
Groomingdales is run by daughter and mother team Sarah and Brigitte Hodgson.
Sarah
Sarah is 25 years old, has been grooming for the last 6 years and opened Groomingdales in 2002 when she was just 19! After leaving school Sarah attended Sixth Form College before starting training as a veterinary nurse. Unfortunately, after 5 months, Sarah decided that this was not the right career for her. At eighteen years old and unsure where to go from there, she decided to pursue something she had tried in the past and enrolled on a professional dog grooming course. Thus Groomingdales was formed.
As well as being a qualified dog groomer, Sarah also has certificates in canine nutrition and has completed courses in animal behaviour and training. She would be happy to answer any of your dog related questions.
Sarah is currently owned by Marley the black labrador, Jessica the Border Collie, Samuel the Shih-Tzu, Barney the Cocker Spaniel, Millie, Sophie and Abby the cats, Bailey and Puzzle the rabbits and far too many fish to mention!
Brigitte
Brigitte, who is on the wrong side of forty, used to work with special needs children, until illness forced her to take a long sabbatical. When Groomingdales was first opened, Brigitte was only supposed to help out for the first week but soon ended up staying, helping Sarah to bath and blow dry the dogs as well as answering the phone and making appointments. That has now all changed, as Brigitte has just completed the dog grooming course, joining Sarah as a professionally qualified dog groomer. Congratulations Brigitte!
